Even for the experienced credentialing specialist, the process of credentialing Allied Health Practitioners (AHP) is potentially uncharted territory. The process of credentialing physicians is a well laid-out map at most health care facilities, but credentialing AHPs is a relatively new development. Unfortunately, one cannot always follow the physician process when credentialing AHPs because it is not always “apples to apples.” This presentation will explore the numerous types of Allies Health Practitioners and ways to credential them while meeting state and federal standards. It will examine the essential elements for initial credentialing of these unique providers and criteria for reappointment. By the end of the presentation, the audience will be equipped with a solid framework for credentialing Allied Health Practitioners.
Types of providers discussed in the presentation will be: Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (CNP, CNS), Physician Assistant (PA) and Massage Therapist (MT). Other types of privileged and non-privileged Allied Health Practitioners will be briefly covered and open to the question portion of the presentation.
